3 Ways of Deep Cleaning Your Carpets

Why is it important to deep clean your carpets? Whether we like it or not, carpets can easily become home not only to dirt and grime but also to dust mites, fleas and other allergens that cannot be removed by simply vacuuming them. Here are three efficient ways about how you can deep clean your carpets at home.

First of all, it is highly recommended to get a powerful vacuum cleaner that is capable of lifting the fibers, making it easier to suck the dirt out of the carpet. It is highly advisable to purchase a vacuum cleaner with more rigid bristles on the brush so that the unit is capable of doing such a thing. If this is not an option and you cannot get such a high-performance tool, what we suggest is that you make the fabric on the carpet loose with a regular broom. This will help with deep cleaning. However, make sure that you properly vacuum the carpet first, since you do not want dust to be disturbed by the broom only to settle back. So the process is like this: vacuum cleaner, broom, vacuum cleaner again.

Removing hard spills and stains from the carpets in your home may be quite a challenging endeavor. The best advice is to clean any spill as soon as it happens, to avoid having more troubles later. However, if the damage is already done, there are a few things you can do. Start with vacuuming the carpets first and do it thoroughly. Then put some vinegar in a spray bottle and spray some of it over the spills. Wipe with a cloth and then sprinkle baking soda over the area. Vacuum again as soon as the area is dry enough. That should help with deep cleaning and remove the stains.

Odors are also a challenge for homeowners when it comes to cleaning carpets. They are unpleasant, and they can lend a home the sensation that it is not cleaned, despite how much work you put into this. Create an odor removal mixture from one cup of borax, two cups of cornmeal and half a cup of baking soda. Proceed first to spray the smelly areas with a combination of water and vinegar; do not go over the top, since you don’t want mold growth in your carpets. Take the mixture recommended earlier and just sprinkle it over your carpets.

After the mixture sits for about an hour on the carpets, come again with your vacuum cleaner and go over the carpets once more. This step is for removing the mixture that by now should have already absorbed all the bad smells. You will be more than pleased with the results. Or I suggest buying a carpet sweeper which will make things a lot more easier.
